FED GOV SPEND
Dear editor,
Rather amusing to drive past signs for the Fairfax LNP MP recycled from the 2019 campaign about building a stronger economy, wonder if he has caught up with the latest – government debt is now $848.8 billion as of 29 October and rising weekly.
And, no he can’t put it all down to the COVID pandemic.
When the LNP took over in 2013 gross debt was $280.3 billion. By the end of January 2020, before the pandemic impacted on Australia, it was doubled to $565 billion.
Time to bury the myth of the Liberals as the better economic managers.

No jab, no job
Dear editor,
This is the pandemic of the unvaccinated! The ‘conscientious objectors’ and ‘anti-vaxers’ want freedom like the fully vaccinated. They continue the spread of Covid and hold us back from a return to normality.
Our hospitals are overwhelmed with unvaccinated patients risking a very tragic, preventable death. Stubborn and defiant workers, who blatantly refuse to comply with mandatory Covid vaccination directions, as part of work requirements, exacerbate the spread and delay in opening up our nation.
The 90% fully vaccinated targets will hardly guarantee Covid’s eradication. While the10% continues unvaccinated, the pandemic continues to risk the vulnerable. As a matter of principle or human rights, those who refuse the jab, drawing attention to themselves, are only playing with fire. Sooner or later, they are confronted with Covid and its risks.
No one in their right mind wants to lose their job, be refused entry to businesses, be cut off from family and friends, not allowed to travel freely interstate or overseas. It’s mind over matter; these few control the national outcome. “No man is an island entire unto himself; we are all part of the continent.” (John Donne)

Marcoola.

CLIMATE PLAN
Dear editor,
‘Team Australia’ are pleased to announce their Great Big Climate Plan as “The Australian Way” – (no worries, she’ll be right mate, slogans, smirks, myths, beers, footie). Will the Plan hold? Just asking.
Margaret Wilkie,
Peregian Beach.
