Anzac Day 2022 was celebrated across the country on Monday, April 25 and the Coolum-Peregian RSL held their annual dawn commemorative service with close to 3,000 people turning up before dawn to show their respect for those who fought for our way of life. Before dawn at around 4.45 am attendees flanked in medals from relatives, dignitaries, local school children and service personnel gathered at Seacove Lane and marched to the grounds of the RSL and from there local school children such as those from Coolum State High School (pictured with Principal Troy Ascott) was part of the moving service by way of singing and recounting what the day means to them. In what was a return to regular formalities a crowd nearing 3,000 woke before dawn to attend the Coolum-Peregian RSL Anzac day dawn commemorative service. The sombre and moving service featured performances from local school choirs and local dignitaries and visiting reservists. A brief shower towards the end of the service did not dampen the commitment of those who came to show their respect to those who fought so bravely for what truly embodies the word ‘freedom’ – a welcome reminder to us all as to how very lucky we are today.
