It was a day of celebration last Wednesday with the ladies from Quota Coolum Beach celebrating their first birthday with lunch at the Coolum Beach Surf Club. Not all members could be there for the party due to holidays or other commitments but those who attended enjoyed the celebration. Quota has been volunteering in Coolum as Quota International Coolum Beach since 1995 running under the direction of the international branch ‘Quota International, Inc’ until it sadly dissolved in 2020. The ladies from Coolum decided to continue the volunteering work they loved so much and are still a not for profit group of women volunteering in the community – just with a different name. The past year has been a struggle to organise events to raise money, but the club has been able to hold pop-up stalls at Pacific on Coolum during the year selling crafts, jams, chutneys cakes and plants. The club members have worked hard to make these stalls financially successful with each member contributing to the stall by way of producing plenty of stock to sell. The money from the recent stall was donated to Oz Harvest. The club has also donated gift and fuel vouchers to the Salvation Army Coolum to be distributed among their clients in need of some financial help. Money was also donated to two families who were impacted by the floods. Members have worked hard to support the disadvantaged in the community and are proud of what they have achieved in the first year of the club. Please lookout for the ladies in blue and white as they would love to have a chat. Happy Birthday Quota Coolum Beach.
