It was a dreary polling day on Saturday, May 21– the official election day, however, many took up the opportunity to vote early at the pre-polling booth at the Coolum-Peregian RSL, and one of these early voters was 103 year old Marie Clark. Taking her democratic right very seriously, Marie who now resides at Sundale took great pride in letting the volunteers know that she enjoyed being able to “make a difference.” Daughter Colleen said that her Mum has voted her whole life and would not miss out now even though she is mostly blind and the majority of the residents at her nursing home don’t vote. Granddaughter Hayley took Marie to the polls and would like to thank the electoral volunteers who treated her with priority and stood in awe of her at her age and how determined she was to vote. Marie felt very special.
