The winners of the 2022 Woolworths Queensland Junior Titles Event Two were crowned on Sunday, June 19 as well as the Queensland State Junior Champions after an intense weekend of surfing action in windy and challenging 2 – 3 ft shore breaks at Coolum Main Beach. Sunday concluded the four-event series of the 2022 Woolworths Queensland Grommet and Junior Titles series. The morning saw the best of the conditions before the strong southerly wind came up and the conditions deteriorated for the juniors to battle for a State Title and a position at the 2022 Australian Junior Surfing Titles, which will be held at North Stradbroke later this year. The best placing for a local surfer was Oli Taylor (pictured) from Peregian who placed fourth in the Under 16 Girls. The Queensland Grom and Junior Titles are key steppingstone events in Surfing Queensland’s development pathway and has seen some of the country’s most successful surfers come through its ranks. High profile athletes including Mick Fanning, Julian Wilson, Ethan Ewing and Isabella Nichols have previously competed in the Grom and Junior State surfing series.
