Supporting Prostate Cancer
QUOTA Coolum Beach recently hosted a morning tea at the Coolum Beach Holiday Park in aid of research and awareness of prostate cancer. We were well supported by caravanners and residents from the park and Dave Dunwoody from the Sunshine Coast Prostate Cancer Support group was in attendance to answer any questions. At this small gathering, we spoke to two men who had just recovered from prostate surgery and sadly another man had just lost his dad to prostate cancer.
Statistics have shown that one in five men in Queensland will be diagnosed with prostate cancer by the age of 85 but if detected early the five-year survival rate for most people with local or regional prostate cancer is nearly 100 per cent.
Quota members were pleased to support such a worthy cause and to raise awareness of prostate cancer symptoms.
Quota members provided a delicious home-baked morning tea for all to enjoy plus handmade crafts for sale. Thank you to all the travellers who attended and donated especially to the men. There was plenty of lively conversation and a relaxing atmosphere.
Congratulations to George, the winner of the Happy hour raffle.
