In the lead-up to ANZAC Day each year, community representatives from the Coolum/Peregian RSL Sub Branch and Quota Coolum Beach diligently hold a stall out front of Coles selling memorabilia with all money raised going back into the local RSL. Items for sale included handmade poppies from the Quota ladies in both red and purple, the latter commemorating the animals who went to war. A fitting reminder as to how important animals are with Laurie Cattanach, an ex-Australian Army officer at the stall with ‘Buddy’ his PTSD assistance dog who was under the table. Judie Turner from Quota Coolum Beach was also there helping with the stall and raising those much-needed funds for such a worthy cause. Lest we forget.
Like many people I am shocked at the proposal for Stumers creek.
In particular the fact that we are in an obesity crisis, mental health crisis, children constantly on devices not connecting with family. All these issues are helped by beach access.Disabled people can’t get down the stairs at Coolum.
So disappointed in you Maria, being ex service person, you of all people should understand the importance of access to calming invironments.Had I been aware of this before I voted, you wouldn’t have had my support.Support dogs and owners can’t get along that area when the tides in.In years past someone else trying for council went the same way and is unable to get anywhere. We don’t forget.Shame on you and so sad,my disabled child struggles to cross to that side when the swell is strong.People can go anywhere, dogs are limited and that is again being reduced.WE ARE NOT NOOSA.
