WITH the cooler months here, now is the perfect time to get out and move your body with a range of health and wellbeing activities on offer as part of Council’s Healthy Sunshine Coast program.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli said this was your chance to try a new activity with more than 50 regular fitness and wellbeing programs available across the Sunshine Coast.
“Healthy Sunshine Coast is an affordable and holistic community health and wellbeing initiative that supports and encourages our community to be healthy, have fun and meet new friends,” Mayor Natoli said.
“Here on the Sunshine Coast, we’re connecting and engaging with our communities to build a better future for everyone.”
The aim of the program is to encourage:
- positive mental health and resilience
- regular physical activity
- healthy eating
- strong social connections
- participation across all ages and abilities.
Registration for the program is free, but essential and can be done online at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au and searching ‘healthy sunshine coast’.
Once signed up, local residents will be able to attend a range of low-cost health and wellbeing activities around the region, which are either $10 (or $5 with a Health Care/Pensioner card).
A great local class to attend is Blended Yoga each Sunday at 7am in Tickle Park (adjacent to the Coolum Surf Club). The session is run by Yoga NRG and includes Pilates, Mindfulness, Meditation and Yoga Nidra.
