COOLUM’S newest little public art space formally launched their new exhibition on Friday, March 21, with ‘Like a Vision’ showcasing works from 10 artists who have drawn inspiration from music and art.
Curated by the Coolum Art Project (CAP), which is a group within the Coolum Residents Association (CRA), Galley Lane is located in the little laneway at the base of the Frank St carpark and next to Heirloom café and Yum Gelato in Coolum.
“Our first exhibition was really well received, and we are happy to be able to produce more exhibitions,” CRA Vice President John Fuller said.
As to how the lane was picked, it was always somewhat known about.
“We knew about the windows and were looking through the gaps, trying to work out what was in there, and the body corporate here has kindly allowed us access, and it’s really perfect,” John said.
Like a Vision showcases the works of 10 local artists who were invited to produce a work that references their personal story of sound and image. Each artwork has a QR code that links to the artist’s inspiration.
Backed by CRA, Galley Lane will feature many more exhibitions throughout the year. Keep up to date with what they are doing via their webpage at www.coolumresidents.org
